Stongate is a 100+ acre neighborhood of 67 single-family homes off of Mitchell Road in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The neighborhood is located just minutes from downtown Portland and a short distance from Fort Williams Park and other points along the shore. Homeowners include families with school-age children, empty nesters, and retirees, all drawn to its quiet privacy with a sense of community. Although the original homes built in Stonegate date back to the mid-1980's, additional homes that incorporate different but compatible architectural styles have been built throughout the years.
The neighborhood has maintained its fresh and well-maintained look and feel throughout the years. Our active homeowners' association meets periodically to discuss maintenance and other issues; designated members of the association arrange for maintenance of the neighborhood's common areas. Community is important here. A "Welcome Committee" reaches out to new residents and the HOA organizes a few annual social events within the neighborhood.
Stonegate residents enjoy direct access to Cape Elizabeth's Greenbelt trail network, enabling them to head out their doors to hike, snowshoe, or walk along miles of wooded trails in an area forever protected from development. In fact, a short walk on the Greenbelt trail takes Stonegate residents to Fort Williams, a popular Cape Elizabeth town park and home of the famous Portland Head Light.
Stonegate is a great place to raise a family and to enjoy a rewarding lifestyle that coastal Maine offers.
